Welcome to Shagg Film Festival

Please register yourself and take a look around. There's lots to see and do, so take your time, meet some new friends, and make yourself at home.

 

One Sunday afternoon in March (2008) the 16th of March to be exact, when we have grown weary of winters onslaught of dreary weather, friends, family, neighbors and strangers will pour into the Chester meeting house to view 2 1/2 hours of films created by friends, family, neighbors and strangers. Movies zero to eight minutes in length that fulfill no particular parameters other than that they were produced as a creative expression of a friend's family, neighbor, or stranger . A movie may be: funny , serious , silly, politically moving or meaningless it doesn't matter . Our goal is just to come out of the cold and into the warmth of a community project that merely takes place for fun (like walking barefoot on a red shagg carpet).

THE FESTIVAL:

- 2 and 1/2 hours in length
- The total number of film minutes will equal 2 and 1/2 hours
- If entries exceed 2 and 1/2 hours there will be a special B - SIDES presentation prior to the festival. The Committee will determine SHAGG and B-SIDE cuts.

THE MOVIE:

- 0-8 minutes in length
- can be viewed by all age groups ( the committee will have final say )
- the final copy must be on DVD-R format (the committee can make this transfer if necessary for small fee ($10.00)
- there are no categories
- there will be no awards, no judges

WHO MAY MAKE A MOVIE ?

- anyone living in Chester or outside of Chester.
- any age
- anyone who can hold a camera or tell someone else to hold it and what to shoot (if you do not have a camera, the committee may be able to help access one.


ENTRIES:

- The festival will be 2 and 1/2 hours long. Entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
-The committee will begin accepting entries as soon as they are received in the mail
-Mail entries to P.O. Box 275, Chester, Ct 06412 c/o Scandinavian Photography
- The FINAL DEADLINE for entries is FEBRUARY 29 2008 its on a first come first serve basis

- If your film needs to be transferred onto DVD-R the entry date is - FEBRUARY 29 2008 ($10)
-There is a $10 application fee (checks can be made out to Shagg Fest/Chester Rotary Club
- the proceeds will to the Chester Rotary Club. March 16th is the Shagg Film Festival at the Chester Meeting House from 4 -6:30pm we look forward to seeing you there.
